Modular Aprons for Makers with Curves

Makers and crafters come in all shapes and sizes, but you wouldn't know that from some of the offerings available from other crafting and apron companies. Most retailers manufacture a one-piece bib for one type of person. It may work perfectly well for someone who is 5'9" with a flat chest, but for the rest of us, it is uncomfortable at best and unusable at worst. On top of this, many of these garments are made in countries with questionable business practices. Some of these countries utilize slave labor to create the textiles and use chemical dyeing processes that cause severe chemical runoff into rivers and eventually the ocean.

I don't want to be a part of this process, but at the same time I need aprons that are sturdy, cover all my body parts comfortably, and fit my shape. I don't want these garments to contribute to slave practices in other countries ( or the US ), and I certainly don't want the textile manufacturing process to contribute to the insect crisis. My options are currently limited.

So I decided to make the aprons for myself.

I soon realized that I am not the only maker out there that has these fit problems. Many creators out there are encountering the same issues, so I decided that inclusive sizing, ethical practices, and organic natural fibers and dyes would be the touchstones of The Apronary.

Though I don't technically consider The Apronary a "fashion" brand, I do believe it belongs in the Slow Fashion space. My goal is not to create thousands upon thousands of yards of cheap disposable garments. In fact, I hope to help you save and protect the garments you currently love and cherish. One finely crafted apron at a time.

The Apronary was founded with three simple but powerful objectives:

To design utility aprons that truly fit real, curvy bodies.
Because every maker, grower, and creator deserves gear that protects and moves with them — not against them. From sizes small to 4X.

To craft every apron from 100% organic fabrics free of harmful synthetic dyes.
We choose materials that nurture the soil, protect pollinators, and leave no toxic legacy behind: 100% organic cotton and either plant-based or GOTS-certified synthetic dyes.

To operate with 0% plastic, from thread to finish.
Commitment to sustainability is woven into every thread, snap, and package — no shortcuts, no plastic.

As a slow "fashion" brand, I believe the planet deserves better — and that better begins with thoughtful design. The Apronary is a "material first" design house, meaning the quality of the material dictates designs and not the other way around. Every apron I make supports a healthier ecosystem and helps mitigate the global insect crisis by choosing organic fabrics, upcycled cotton, linen, and hemp, and earth-safe dyes that safeguard pollinators and the environments they depend on.
